Libby Todd's small set packs an elaborate punch. The walls of it's living room, which flexes from Airbnb to film set to the pair's apartment, hosts projections of everything from scientific explainers to the small but cumulatively damaging cruelties of Daniel's early life. A sliding panel, meanwhile, reveals Daniel's space capsule.
WHATS ON STAGE
The production looks great. Lenson's direction is precise, with clever details sprinkled throughout. The scientists step out of Libby Todd's gorgeous corner stage to observe their subjects, while projections shower the back walls with informational data and graphics.
BROADWAY WORLD
Libby Todd's set and Eleanor Bull's costumes are consistently impressive. Projections are used effectively to evoke the vastness of space.
THEATRE WEEKLY
The collaboration between Libby Todd's set design and Ben Jacobs' lighting are particularly effective, creating a marriage of visual elements that effectively world-builds (or, perhaps more accurately, other-world-builds). The transitions are seamless, facilitating the often-changing mise-en scène within the kinetic narrative.
