Libby Todd's set instantly draws us into this small town community - wodden facades reveal simple dwellings and a general store, the mountains in the backgorund are depicted in corrogated iron and the large full moon is always visible. The witches stand out in their otherworldly costumes.
THEATRE & TONIC
The witches have an otherworldly style, with them appearing from behind buildings and rooftops in near-constant writhing movements, enhanced by flowing grey fabrics. This contrasts neatly with the solid no nonsense line-dancing townspeople with their sensible boots, denim and check shirts. Libby Todd's set design adds a sense of small town claustrophobia while still managing to provide for all the different locations required. The transitions are subtle but work really well, accomplished so smoothly they were hardly noticeable.
EVERYTHING THEATRE
Libby Todd's set design is richly atmospheric and multifunctional, while her costumes vividly bring the world and it's characters to life.
LONDON THEATRE REVIEWS
Libby Todd's set design is robust and rustic, allowing the actors to work across multiple levels throughout the show.
